About

My name is Shelly McCurdy, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, currently doing business as Shelly McCurdy, LPC. I sublet office space in Leander at the time of this writing for a limited number of in-person sessions, although I primarily provide telehealth services from the comfort of my home office.

At the present, I work predominantly with individual adolescents and adults, helping them navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem/self-worth. I utilize aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and play therapy to create rapport with clients and assist in their moving forward to healing.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas State University – San Marcos in 2008, and graduated in 2011 from St. Mary’s University – San Antonio with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In 2012, I began practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in private practice settings, and become independently licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2016.

I have been practicing counseling since 2010, when I was a practicum student at St. Mary’s University, volunteering at a couple of agencies, including Central Texas Medical Center Hospice in San Marcos, Texas. Much of my work in practicum was with children, adolescents, and groups. Post-graduation, my focus has been primarily in private practice, where I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Post-graduate training has included: Circle of Security (Parent Educator), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (Parenting Training).

Other profile and physical office location information can be found at: Leander Counseling & Art Therapy (not employed by Art Heals, PLLC dba Leander Counseling & Art Therapy).
